Insurance term
Certificate of Insurance (COI)
A certificate of insurance (COI) is a one-page document that proves you have an active policy and shows your coverage types and limits. Clients, landlords, and partners often request one before doing business with you. It's proof of coverage, not the policy itself.
Why it matters
Many Utah contracts and leases won't move forward until you provide a COI, so having one ready keeps deals from stalling.
