Insurance term

Named Insured

The named insured is the person or business officially listed on the policy as the policyholder. This party has the broadest rights and responsibilities, including making changes and filing claims. Others, like family members or employees, may be covered but aren't the named insured.

Why it matters

Making sure the right person or business entity is the named insured prevents coverage disputes when a claim arises.
