Insurance term
Workers' Compensation
Workers' compensation pays for medical bills and lost wages when an employee is hurt or gets sick on the job. In exchange, it generally protects you from being sued by that employee over the injury. It covers your workers, not customers or the public.
Why it matters
Utah law requires nearly every employer with employees to carry workers' comp, so going without it can mean fines and personal liability.
